Pierre Adamieu Domaine Grand Romane Gigondas 2022

This Gigondas is a powerful yet refined expression of the southern Rhône, crafted from old vines grown on high-altitude slopes in the Gigondas AOC. A blend dominated by Grenache with Mourvèdre and Syrah, the wine is harvested by hand and aged for about 18 months in a combination of French oak barrels and large foudres, allowing its structure to soften while preserving the intensity of the fruit. The 2022 vintage, shaped by warm and dry conditions, produced concentrated grapes with remarkable balance and ripeness. 

In the glass, the wine reveals layered aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and raspberry intertwined with notes of licorice, wild herbs, and subtle spice. The palate is medium-to-full bodied with velvety yet firm tannins, offering both richness and freshness. Hints of garrigue, olive, and gentle oak lead to a long, savory finish that reflects the rugged hillside terroir of Gigondas. Already expressive, it can be enjoyed now with decanting or cellared for several years as the structure and complexity continue to evolve.
