Les Fontenelles Sancerre 2024

The 2024 Les Fontenelles Sancerre is a classic expression of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, produced by La Cave des Vins de Sancerre, a cooperative of approximately 80 growers farming vineyards across twelve villages in the appellation. The diversity of terroirs—including the region’s famed limestone, flint, and chalky caillottes soils—gives the wine both complexity and consistency. Fermented at cool temperatures and aged on its fine lees for several months, the wine preserves its vibrant aromatics while gaining a subtle richness and texture. 

In the glass, the 2024 vintage offers bright aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, white flowers, and fresh-cut herbs, underscored by the distinctive flinty minerality that defines great Sancerre. The palate is crisp and energetic, balancing lively acidity with notes of citrus, green apple, and a hint of gooseberry before finishing long, clean, and refreshing. This elegant Sauvignon Blanc is a natural companion to oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, roast chicken, fresh goat cheese, or spring vegetables, making it a versatile choice for both aperitifs and refined meals.
