The 2020 Luigi Giordano Barbaresco Cavanna DOCG is an elegant, expressive Nebbiolo that captures both finesse and power from its “Cavanna” cru in Barbaresco. This wine opens with a lifted bouquet of dried cherries and jam, overlaid with ethereal rose petals and hints of orange zest. Floral notes—especially rose—are prominent, blending with subtle herbal and smoky undertones as the wine breathes. On the palate it carries crunchy acidity and superfine, polished tannins, providing structure without detracting from the wine’s grace. Flavors of blood orange peel, blackberry, and clove evolve toward the finish, which is savory, slightly toasty, and underpinned by Nebbiolo’s classic dusty texture.
