Aslina Umsasane Bordeaux Blend 2022

The Aslina Umsasane 2022 is a refined and expressive red blend crafted by Ntsiki Biyela, South Africa’s first Black female winemaker. Named after her grandmother, the wine honors her legacy with a harmonious blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 12% Petit Verdot. The 2022 vintage offers a complex bouquet of black cherry, apricot jam, lavender, and herbal notes, complemented by subtle hints of green bell pepper and vanilla.

On the palate, it presents a bold structure with flavors of cassis, blackberry, and blueberry, enriched by nuances of wood smoke, clove, and hazelnut from 16 months of maturation in predominantly old oak. With a 14.5% alcohol content and a balanced profile, this wine is both approachable now and has the potential to age gracefully, enhancing its complexity over time.
